Friday Sermon 5 September 1997
Propaganda has been carried out for some time against the Ahmadiyya Community at governmental level in Gambia (West Africa) through an organised plot. I will unveil some of the details. This year on 6 June an Imam of the State House of Gambia delivered a speech against Ahmadiyya based on lies and allegations in the presence of the national president of the government and this speech was relayed on the national TV and Radio station. When the president was asked what is happening he said 'I have nothing to do with it this is the Imam's personal endevour'. BBC Radio took notice of these sermons of the Imam in their Program 'Focus on Africa' with reference to a Gambian official and first unmasked this government plot. The people of Gambia are decent and courageous and they observe all these goings-on with intense vitriol. This is a deep plot that has been nurtured in Saudi Arabia and included Pakistan and it was based in Kuwait and Egypt. This is how plots against the Jamat are nurtured. The Gambian president went to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of this year on 23 March and also to Pakistan and then to Kuwait and Egypt and proceedings against the Jamat followed thereafter whereas before this same governmental president has commended the Ahmadis for their services. The tour of the president of Gambia to Saudi Arabia was presented in a highfalutin and pompous manner and he was given exceptional service and protocol over and above that deserving of his personal character. The Imam of the mosque of the State Guest House was asked to accept the Mubahila Challenge. First he averted it in many ways but finally accepted the Mubahila Challenge on 22 August and now this affair is in the hand of God. Now this war is on. We will answer every bit of the totally false Propaganda against the Jamat being shown on the Television in Gambia and this would be presented in the 'Liqa Ma al-Arab' and on other Programs on MTA and the whole world will get to hear it. This mischievous government mob said things which seemed as if they would blame the non-Gambian Ahmadis and deport them. Before they could succeed in their mischief I told my non-Gambian Ahmadi workers to leave [the country] because now a war has begun between this ill-fated government and the decent Gambians. I told them to leave together and leave bravely and give an Interview before you leave. So I now convey the tiding that all the non-Gambian Ahmadi workers have by the grace of Almighty God miraculously reached the Ivory Coast. Some of them were able to offer exceptional services for this purpose. I had been assured through a vision that the whole process would be soundly accomplished. I will mention this vision in detail next Friday. Now the Mubahila has taken place. Now there is prayer and awaiting the results of the Mubahila. God willing.
