Friday Sermon 9 October 1998
Verily, those who, out of fear of their Lord, always stand guard AGAINST SINS. And those who believe in the Signs of the Lord. And those who ascribe no partners to their Lord. And who always give with hearts trembling at the thought that one day they must return to their Lord - They are the ones who hasten to do good deeds and are foremost in getting to them. ('The Holy Quran'. al Muminun [The Believers]: 58 - 62). These verses also elaborate upon the theme continuing in these sermons on humility and submission and thrall. Returning to the Prophetic Ahadith mentioned in a previous sermon: Abū Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are 7 whom Allah would give protection with His Shade on the Day when there would be no shade but His: a just ruler, a youth who grew up with the worship of Allah, a person whose heart is attached to the mosques, 2 persons who love and meet each other and depart from each other for the love of Allah, a man whom a beautiful woman of high rank seduces but he rejects her saying 'I am enamoured of Allah', a person who gives charity so secretly that the right hand does not know what the left has given and a person who privately remembered Allah and their eyes welled up with tears.' (Muslim, Ibn al-Hajjaj. 'Sahih Muslim: iii'. Tr. Nasiruddin al-Khattab. Darussalam, 2007. 76, 77). To meet for the love of Allah does not at all mean not to part when it is time to part. The person who meets for the love of Allah also parts for the love of Allah. Similarly there is another Hadith that: Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said 'A person who weeps in awe of Allah shall not enter the Fire until the milk returns to the udder; the dust raised in the way of Allah and the smoke of Hell shall never unite' (Tirmidhi, Abu Isa Muhammad. 'Jami` at-Tirmidh: iii'. Tr. Abu Khayal. Darussalam, 2007. 388). This is a very subtle example. A mother's breasts heave with milk when the child cries so God's mercy once it descends at the tears of one who cries solely for Allah never retreats back. There are other similar Ahadith of the Holy Prophet ﷺ in which the Noble Messenger has explained 'kindness'. There is also a prayer of the Holy Prophet that 'O Allah! I seek thy thrall in the unseen and in the seen.' True knowledge enthralls and causes Holy awe. Some of the writings of His Holiness the Promised Messiah further clarify this subject. . 25 September 1998. . Tirmidhi.
