Friday Sermon 10 September 1999
For some time I have been unable to attend the mosque to lead prayers. This was due to some mental entanglements that prevented me from clearly expressing my thoughts. The biggest cause of these concerns was the glorious success of the Jalsa last year and the great favour of Almighty God in fulfilling our desire that we increased to 10000000. Thereafter my mind was worried due to the private audiences because all 21000 men and women wished to come and meet me. The burden of the private audiences is far heavier than the Jalsa [itself] and much greater than all its addresses. Among these there were those who conveyed good news. There were those who reported extremely disconcerting circumstances. They continued to heap all their burdens onto my mind one after another that caused me unlimited agitation. Each person considers their problems to be my problems and it is correct that my problem is their problem, what troubles them troubles me. Then suddenly there was a void. As a result of which the mind got involved in thoughts that made me decide that it was no longer possible for me to lead the prayers in this situation when the mind is entangled in such affairs. Today is Friday the Tenth. It was my prayer that I should not disappoint the Community on this day and that this Friday the Tenth be the start of my future good health. In this regard by the grace of Allah the Almighty I have come before you all and everything I say, I say with full confidence and certainty. The Quran advises that one conceal ones sins through repentance. One should not expose them. Put your trust in Allah the Almighty, if Allah so wills He can forgive everything. The ways of Allah's forgiveness know no limit. Do not become arrogant upon your own virtue. God Is - It is a certainty. It is impossible for anyone to refute it. There is such perfect certainty of the existence of God in my heart that I can swear by God and claim that perhaps no other person in the world today has such complete certainty of the existence of Almighty God based upon their personal experience as I do. May Allah be the Helper and the Protector of all of you. I am always worried for each one of you. I pray for all of you even when I am ill and as far as possible try to arrange assistance for the widows, the orphans and the destitute. The Promised Messiah would sometimes deliver the sermon but somebody else would lead the prayers. Thus in following this custom respected Ataul Mujib Rashed would lead the prayers.
