Darsul Quran. al-Nisa [The Women]: 16 (2), 17.

Description

And those of your women who are guilty of lewdness -- confront them with 4 witnesses; and if they bear testify then confine them to the houses until death overtakes them or Allah opens for them another way.

And if 2 men from among you are guilty of it punish them both.  But if they repent and amend then leave them alone; surely Allah is Oft-Returning and Merciful.


*Critical examination of certain Ahadith [Traditional saying attributed to the Prophet] and Commentaries in relation to  أَوْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا ['or Allah opens for them another way'] which state that the سَبِيلًا ['way'] is the penalty of stoning to death.  

* Arguments in favour of verse 17 in answer to the allegation of the Orientalists that Islam does not grant equal status to men and women because the women have been placed under house arrest and the men have not.  Critical examination of the various Ahadith and commentaries on this verse.
