Friday Sermon 5 June 1998

Description

O ye who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones over which are appointed stern angels severe who disobey not Allah in what He commands them and do as they are ordered.

('The Holy Quran'.  al-Tahrim [The Prohibition]: 7).

The يَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ [do as they are ordered'] in this verse is the fundamental point of the sermon today.  This is an attribute of the angels.  Just like the angels the person commissioned only ever does as they have been commanded.  However some people are only commissioned and some are commissioned as well as being authorised.  So they only act as directed and commissioned and deliver commands whilst remaining within their circles as authorised.  Sometimes there is a need to direct the workers of the association regarding their circle of action.   For example a director does exactly as directed.  If they begin to direct of their own will they would no longer remain a director.  This task is close to that of angels in that they act only as directed.  if the Ahmadiyya Community adopts this system with precision all over the world there is no chance of any director slacking.

[The verse] means that none of the commandments of Almighty God can be ignored.  The same example applies to the Jamat.  If members of the Jamat keep fearing that their actions might result in harming the Jamat then Allah the Almighty protects the Jamat from the ill effects of the flawed actions of such people.  The people in the local authority have no right to give an order outside of their remit and if they order anything that is outside the statements of the Quran and Muhammad the Holy Messenger of Allah it would not be obeyed.  His Holiness the Promised Messiah (peace be on him) explains the very important angles of the subject of obedience mentioning the effects and bounties of true obedience because obedience is something that if adopted with a true heart enlightens the heart and makes a true joy and glow in the spirit.  Spiritual exercises are not needed as much as obedience.  His Holiness the Promised Messiah ( peace be on him) has stated that 'You who are called the Community of the Promised Messiah and desire to join the Companions should create the hues of the Companions within yourselves.'
