Description
And whoso of you cannot afford to marry free believing women should marry a believing handmaiden. And Allah knows your faith best; you are one from another; so marry them with the consent of their people and give them their dowries accordingly for their being chaste not committing adultery nor taking secret paramours. And if after they are married they be guilty of lewdness they shall be punished half of that which is prescribed for free women. This is for him among you who fears lest he should sin. And that you restrain yourselves is better for you; and Allah is the Forgiving the Merciful. Discussion of concubinage. 14 January 1997.
