Friday Sermon 12 January 1996

Description

O People of the Book! There has come to you Our Messenger who unfolds to you much of what you had kept hidden of the Scripture and to overlook much.  There has come to you indeed from Allah a Light and a clear scripture.

Thereby does Allah guide those who seek His pleasure along the paths of peace and leads them out of every darkness into light by His will and guides them to the right path.

('The Holy Quran'.  al-Maidah [The Banquet]: 16, 17).

‘Those who follow the Messenger the Prophet the unlettered one whom they find mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel with them.  He enjoins on them right and forbids them wrong and makes lawful for them what is wholesome and forbids the bad and removes from them their burden and shackles that were upon them.  So those who believe in him and honour and support him and help him and follow the light that has been sent down with him – These shall prosper.

('The Holy Quran'.  al-Araf [The Heights]: 158).


'The Holy Quran' is a light and the Chosen and Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is also a light from Allah the Almighty.

In these verses the People of the Book have been told that the Holy Prophet ﷺ appeared in fulfillment of the Prophecies mentioned in their Scripture and the the signs that were foretold are fulfilled in his person.  If the Chosen Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had not striven for us weaklings it was impossible for us to have been shown these paths leading to peace.  'The Holy Quran' openly explains everything and opens up the paths that can lead one to enlightenment.  The more you are aware of the darks of the self the more you will come to know the importance of the need of Muhammad the Holy Messenger of Allah because he is the one who brings one out of darkness and leads to the straight path by the decree of Allah.

The Messenger of Allah guides to the different paths of peace so that through them he may lead people onto the straight path.  And to be led onto the straight path is to have received the light.  Peace is every path that brings one out of all forms of darkness and the Holy and Chosen Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has shown a path out of every darkness.  If you will not tread this path you will be targeted by dangers and these paths of peace do not only save one from the perils but are essential for travelling towards the light and for receiving it.  

Although a Prophet is light but he never guides from himself but guides one to follow the light of Allah.
