Description
Know that the life of this world is only a game and a diversion and pomposity and a subject of boasting among yourselves, of rivalry in multiplying riches and children. Like the vegetation that sprouts up after the rain rejoicing the tillers. Then it dries up and thou seest it turning yellow; becoming broken pieces of stubble. And in the hereafter there is severe chastisement, as well as forgiveness and Allah's pleasure. And the life of this world is nothing but illusory pleasure. Race with one another in seeking forgiveness from your Lord and for a paradise, whose span is like the span of the heaven and the earth; it has been prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is Allah's grace; He bestows it upon whomsoever He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of immense grace. ('The Holy Quran'. al-Hadid [Iron]: 21). I announce that the Jalsas of the Ahmadiyya Community in Spain and the Ahmadiyya Community in Mauritius are beginning and I appeal for prayers for the success of both these Jalsas. Rather than speaking of any other subject only forgiveness has been presented as the key to paradise. The subject of this sacred verse is the largess of forgiveness and its importance and it has been expanded to apply to every other thing and that has been called paradise. This verse is translated to mean 'Progress towards the forgiveness of your Lord and the heaven the value of which is equal to the earth and the heavens'. However the translation I have made here of its expanse has been approved by the Holy Prophet ﷺ. The subject of calling towards endless heavens cannot be [imagined] without God's bounty. This also connotes that if one were to ask for the expanse of the entire universe it would still not lessen the treasures of God. The Noble Prophet ﷺ has spoken openly about this in very clear terms in his blessed statements. Wherever the subject of mercy is linked to forgiveness there the subject of the pleasure of the Almighty is linked to bounty. It is a must for a seeker of forgiveness to constantly keep an eye on their defaults and to try to decrease their sins with genuine intent. This is the subject which results in God's promise of forgiveness so boundless as to encompass the entire universe, the Earth and the heavens. The receiving of bounty requires the adopting of habits seen affectionately by God. This characteristic should possess deep beauty rooted in the truth of one's endevour. Whenever the loving eyes of God fall upon such habits it is always mentioned alongside truth. As a result of truth even a mistake can seem beautiful. The truthful are granted the greatest of boons. All the Prophets received the blessing of Prophethood as a result of [their] truthfulness. Allah only ever prefers acts that are related to the truth and that are related to sincerity. Any act devoid of this is unacceptable before Him. God has appointed us to bring light to those unfortunate nations where every revolution turns into increasing darknesses. God has appointed us to replicate their total hopelessness into hopes of forgiveness. They do not know that their survival has been made dependent upon how they treat us. Today we are the very ones hoping for forgiveness that are mentioned in this sacred verse. If our prayers and our reminders create a watchful conscience in them then they can turn back before the final fall. May Allah enable us to cover ourselves in the end with the cloak of God's forgiveness and may He enable us to change the ruined state of the whole of humanity as far as our message can reach them, into a state of forgiveness.
