Tarjumatul Quran - Sura' al-Baqarah [The Heifer]: 255 - 260

Description

Verse 256: The word كُرۡسِيُّ primarily means seat of power or throne.  This meaning of the word has wider application and covers not only knowledge but also other requisites of government.

The results of Scientific studies carried out to this day are very limited in the light of وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىۡءٍ۬ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهِۦۤ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ‌ۚ ['and they comprehend not any of his knowledge except what he pleases'].  The Pedestal signifies the kingdom and the knowledge and the Throne of the Almighty God which encompasses the whole world.  'The Holy Quran' presents the Divine Will as the source of Energy.  This part of the verse is very profound and magnificent and one should always ponder over it.

In verse Number 258 Almighty God presents the evidence for His friendship with His people in that He delivers them out of darkness into the light.  So it is a matter of concern for those who do not improve in their light.  

Verse Number 259 records in detail the superb and successful skill of debate possessed by Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) which was so powerful as to leave his enemies with no way of escape.
