Description

O ye who believe! Shall I point out to you a bargain that will save you from a painful torment?

That you believe in Allah and His Messenger and struggle for the cause of Allah through your capital and your persons.  That is best for you if you did but know.

('The Holy Quran'.  al-Saff [The Ranks]: 11, 12).

This Surah gives news of the coming of the Promised Messiah and also contains clear indications of the events to pass over the Ahmadiyya Community and it also mentions how this Jamat is to give their possessions and wealth freely in the path of God.  

The bargain being invited to in these verses is the Jihad in the cause of God through your wealth and your lives.  The expending of lives in the way of God is an important cause but here wealth is mentioned first because it is an age in which sacrifice of wealth was to become a means for self-purification resulting in self-expending of all the pure faculties granted by God.  This is something that can be seen on a daily basis when anyone who goes to the trouble to spend a little for the pleasure of the Omnipotent God is increased in their ability and then gradually, they begin to spend their time, emotions and everything else in the way of God.

I have taken up this subject as the new year of Tehrik e Jadid is to be announced today.  The Ahadith of the Holy Prophet and the writings of His Holiness the Promised Messiah (peace be on him) clarify its important aspects:

So I remind every one of you who are present or absent to inform your brothers about contributing.  Include every one of the weak brothers in the contributions too.  This opportunity will not come into your hands again.  What a blessed era this is that nobody is asked for their lives for this is not the age to give lives but to spend one's wealth as much as one is able to ...

This is a great appeal that should continue for ever.  Include every one of your weak brothers in the contributions as well.  This is the task for the entire Jamat.

Tehrik e Jadid began in 1934.  64 years have been completed on 31 October 1998.  Offices have been added to this scheme in time.  Today I am announcing this new year of Tehrik e Jadid.  According to the Reports received from 82 countries £1686000 has been received which is £65000 more than the previous year.  There are many countries where although their contributions have not decreased but due to the state of their Currency when it was exchanged into pounds it seemed less.

This year the Jamat in Germany is to be congratulated for being Number one.  Compared to last year £135000 extra has been received from them.  The extraordinary sacrifice of the Jamat of Burma merits special mention it is a small Jamat but has collected 3 times as much Chanda compared to the previous year and offered £45000 in the Chanda of Tehrik e Jadid.  

The first 10 countries in order are Germany, Pakistan, America, Britain, Canada, Burma, Indonesia, India, Switzerland, Belgium and Japan.

Similarly in Pakistan Lahore came first, Rabwah second and Karachi third.  I pray that Allah the Almighty may make this a very blessed new year in every way.
