Description
And it is by the mercy of Allah that thou deal gently with them, and if thou hadst been harshly hard-hearted they would surely have dispersed from around thee. So bear with them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in matters of importance, and when thou hast determined a course of action then put thy trust in Allah. Verily Allah loves those who trust Him. If Allah help you none shall prevail upon you; but if He forsake you then who is there that can help you other than Him? It is in Allah that the believers trust. ('The Holy Quran'. Āl Imran [Family of Imran]: 160, 161). The Quranic teaching with regards to the importance of an organised system of consultation is mentioned in these verses beginning with mercy which descended from God upon the Messenger of Allah and then that mercy was conferred upon others through [1]مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ ['what we give them'] so that the nearest one was the most blessed. In view of the Majlis e Shura being held in Pakistan, if people were not bound together through this mercy no Consultative Body would be able to binding them together. A person who is merciless or whose heart is empty of love for his brother is not worthy of being advised nor of giving advise. For there to be no Party system in Islam is a grand mercy in itself because each person confines themselves to advise only for the sake of Allah and this cannot work detached from the subject of mercy. Nations can never be bound together through rationality. Gathering with one accord relates to mercy. Nobody was ever granted more control upon their slaves than the Holy Prophet and Messenger of Allah and those slaves had given everything they had to him and were devoted to him and he was kind to them out of the mercy of Allah and he is the only Prophet to have been declared a 'Mercy for the universe'.[2] It is the same mercy which has been declared to be the basis of consultation. If a nation is mercilessly bound by rationality they can never bring forward true God-consciousness and love as it is crucial that one advises out of mercy. Counsel can never be true if it is devoid of mercy. A consultative system has the same relation with the Caliph that the Quran had established between Muhammad the Holy Messenger of Allah and the believers. 'The Holy Quran' guides the believers that when they present themselves before the Messenger to offer advice they should first offer alms. These alms mean offerings to him and alms given to the poor in order to please God so that Allah may enable one to offer good counsel, also to present one's opinion in the proper way. The commandment given here to give alms is in view of the same bonds of love. When electing your representatives do not just keep in sight those that appear presentable rather see who is the best in serving, the best in offering counsel being conscious of God and who is ever ready to present everything before God. Those who merely devote their time and lag behind in offering their wealth they usually stumble and fall prey to trials. In the light of the Quranic verses whoever is appointed an Amir under the service of Muhammad the Messenger of Allah would be advised and he always has the right to accept it if he so wills and to reject it if he so wills and trust in Allah. His decision will be blessed and is blessed. The hearts of the believers are never tainted because of his rejections because it is done out of mercy. The history of Islam is full of such shining examples. The UK Community had for some time been seeking to purchase land for the new mosque and with the bounty of Allah I convey the glad tiding that the Community is in possession of it now. It is a very good place, it is safe. I appeal for prayers that Allah the Almighty may bless it and if there are any troubles in the way that God may deal with them Himself. In the end I will lead some funeral prayers in absentia of some for the deceased persons the first of whom is Amina Tayyaba the wife of Sahibzada Mirza Mubarik Ahmad. From 1 April MTA International will be broadcasting 24-hours worldwide and there will be some difficulties in this service to start with but God Willing as soon as this is organised properly it will prove much better than before. These extraordinary mercies and blessings are in fact the blessings of the [one who was] Mercy for the Universe ﷺ. May Allah scatter their boon upon this entire age and remove all hindrances.
