Summary:
Huzoor-e-Anwar (aba) discussed the biographies of the two blessed Sahaba. The first was Hazrat Sa’id bin Zaid (ra), cousin to Hazrat Umar (ra) and Married to Fatimah, sister of Hazrat Umar (ra). His father was Zaid bin Amr, who passed away before the divine appointment of the Holy Prophet (sa). He was already upon the faith of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) and the Holy Prophet (sa) said that on Judgement Day he will alone be equal to an entire Ummah. He was one of the early Muhajireen (emigrants) and had established a pact of brotherhood with Hazrat Rafi’ bin Malik (ra) or according to some narrataions, and Hazrat Ubay bin Kab (ra) according to others. 

Hazrat Zaid (ra) wasn’t able to take part in the battle of Badr, but the Holy Prophet (sa) distributed to him the war booty, which is why he is being counted as a Badri Sahabi. He was away on a reconnaissance mission with Hazrat Talha bin Ubaydallah (ra), sent by the Prophet (sa), and joined the Muslim army as soon as they found out about the battle of Badr, although it was after the battle. Hazrat Umar (ra) accepted Islam in result of an incident with Hazrat Sai’d (ra) and Hazrat Fatimah (ra) bintul Khattab (his wife). 

The second blessed Companion (Sahabi) mentioned is Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (ra), with both Hazrat Sa’id bin Zaid (ra) and Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (ra) counted amongst the Ashra Mubashrah (10 to whom paradise was promised). The full list is: Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra), Hazrat Umar (ra), Hazrat Uthman (ra), Hazrat Ali (ra), Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (ra), Hazrat Sa’id bin Zaid (ra), Hazrat Talha bin Ubaidallah (ra), Hazrat Zubayr bin al Awaam (ra), Hazrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (ra) and Hazrat Abu Ubaidah bin al Jarrah (ra).

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (ra) was part of the Ahl-e-Shurah that Hazrat Umar (ra) appointed for the election of Khilafat. He had forbidden himself from partaking in alcohol prior to the advent of Islam, during the period of ignorance (al-Asr al-Jahili). He was one of the first eight people to accept Islam, with his acceptance taking place even before the period of Dar-e-Arqam, through the preaching of Hazrat Abu Bakr’s (ra). He Emigrated to Habasha (Abysynia, being modern-day Ethiopia).

The bond of Muakhaat (brotherhood ) was established between Hazrat Abdur Rahman (ra) and Hazrat Sa’d bin Rabih (ra). Hazrat Sa’d (ra) offered him half of his property. Hazrat Abdur Rahman (ra) said may Allah bless your property and people of your household. Instead he asked Hazrat Sa'd to please tell him where the bazaar was, wherein he then began trading. He did this every day that after a short while returned with some Saffron. The Holy Prophet (ra) asked if he had gotten married. He replied in the affirmative. The Holy Prophet (sa) said you should do a Walima even with just 1 lamb. God had blessed him in trade so much that he believed that if he lifted a stone, he would find gold under it.

During the Battle of Badr: He looked right and left and saw two young Ansar. One of the youths asked if he knew Abu Jahl, to which he said yes. He asked them what business they had with Abu Jahl? The youth said that Abu Jahl used to insult our prophet so he wanted to finish him off. The other Ansari said the same. Hazrat Abdur Rahman (ra) pointed towards Abu Jahl, towards whom both leapt and eventually killed. The Holy Prophet (ra) asked who killed him Abu Jahl, to which  both said they did. These two young Ansari Sahaba were Hazrat Ma’az (ra) and Hazrat Mu’awiz (ra). Such was the love that the companions had for the Holy Prophet (sa).
