Friday Sermon
Khutba Juma
Urdu
Description
I wish to give very important advice to the Amirs. In a previous sermon I gave great emphasis to obeying the Amir. Whereas we say as a point of logic that subservient to the obedience to the Holy Prophet of Allah ﷺ all his representatives have a right to obedience according to their positions it is also important to explain that although the most important right of obedience is that held by the Holy Prophet of Allah ﷺ and the right of obedience is delivered onward with reference to him but it has also been stated about him that 'If you had not been soft-hearted and forbearing and merciful towards them all these people would have scattered hither and thither'.* An Amir who is appointed and especially one appointed by Almighty God bears some responsibilities. It is incorrect that his task is just to receive obeisance and nothing else. Such a thing is unnatural. Every person who is commissioned, who is empowered within his circles, who has authority must take care and strive to win the hearts of those over whom he is appointed. One who becomes an Amir and disregards this important point can only be a fool and a sort of arrogance will also be found in him. So it is not a minor thing to be appointed as an Amir. It demands much to be fulfilled. Whoever is made an Amir will have to sacrifice his life in order to create a spirit of hearing and obeying. An Amir who does not fulfil what is required of him of mercy and kindness, does not give birth to patience and morale and does not remain concerned to tie them into a bond of love and grace in whatever way possible that Amir can never see examples of grace in his Jamat. In this regard the exemplary society is only the one where the pure [and noble] examples of the Holy Prophet ﷺ are being followed. The Holy Prophet ﷺ took such care of his servants that the sound of a child crying convinced him to shorten the prayer in consideration for the mother's feeling at hearing her child cry. The person who cares for the troubles of others more than anyone else can never be rightly attacked that 'This or that loss came to us because you disregarded us.' The Messenger of Allah would sacrifice his own needs for the needs of others. It is incumbent upon us to follow him. The status of an Amir, his moral responsibilities can be understood by looking at their daily routine in which it is important to treat everyone equally and not to let a few people in control [of their actions]. Those who remain in the Jamat as courtiers destroy the organisational structure of the entire community. It behoves no Amir to become a puppet in the hands of a few people or be seen surrounded by a few people in a way that gives people the impression that he only listens to what they say. It is the responsibility of an Amir to do away with such impressions if they do exist and if they do not then it is his responsibility to be careless [about it]. I shall continue this very important subject in the next sermon for it is my desire that the Ahmadiyya Community be well established upon the plateaus of higher moral values that are essential for the safeguarding of the organisation. * For it is by the mercy of Allah that thou art gentle towards them, for if thou hadst been rough or hard-hearted they would surely have dispersed from thee. So bear with them and pray forgiveness for them and take counsel with them in matters of importance; and when you have decided on a course of action put thy trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves the trusty. ('The Holy Quran'. Āl Imran [Family of Imran]: 160). The text http://www.alislam.org/urdu/sermon/FST19960614-UR.pdf © The Tahir Archive / MTA International, 2015.
