Description
'Have they a share in the kingdom then would they not give people so much as the little groove in the back of a date-stone? Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them out of His bounty? Surely We gave the Scripture and Wisdom to the family of Abraham and We gave them a great kingdom.' This mentions the stinginess of the Jews increasing with the increase in their wealth and power. Whatever moves the Jews made during the Battle of the Ditch was without their having been granted dominion. The Jews usually said thought that the should not follow the Arabs as they thought themselves to be more worthy of kingdom and prophethood. This verse totally eradicates this belief of theirs. And declares it to be a false notion. Stating that the real Kingdom is the eternal and everlasting Kingdom of Almighty God. 'The praise' is that which is perfect and contrition can never be attributed to it. The establishment of this universe upon has is rendered legless in trying to find a defect in this universe. al-Malik [The Sovereign] is also He who continually wipes away the kingdoms of others. In explaining this Imam Raghib refers to: Say 'O Allah Lord of sovereignty Thou givest sovereignty to whomsoever Thou pleasest and Thou takest away sovereignty from whomsoever Thou pleasest. Thou exaltest whomsoever Thou pleasest and Thou humble whomsoever Thou pleasest. In Thy hand is all good. Thou hast power over all things. ('The Holy Quran'. Al Imran [Family of Imran]: 27). Verse 55 mentions the jealousy of the Jews, their disgrace and the affirmation of the superiority of the Holy Prophet. The Kingdom of Allah was manifested through the person of the Holy Prophet and this was a cause for the jealousy of the Jews and they bore such disgrace that they laid all their virtues at the feet of the idolaters. Belief and jealousy can never unite. al-Qurtubi states that a jealous person remains agitated. If this agitation means the fire which remains kindling in the heart then this is correct. Jealousy is that primal sin committed by Iblis in the heavens and held against Cain and Abel on the Earth. Spiritually Iblis is the greatest accursed one and the greatest one who was jealous and caused physical rivalry between one brother, and the brother who killed him. Jealousy is infuriating. I caution against malice which is horrendous. It has been seen in the matter of the distribution of inheritance that mutual jealousies between brothers emerge as soon as the parents close their eyes. Pray that Almighty God saves the Ahmadiyya Community from all forms of jealousy. 4 January 1998.
