Description
Allah accepts the repentance of those who do evil ignorantly and then repent soon after they are those to whom Allah turns with mercy; verily Allah is All-Knowing and Wise. It is not repentance when those who are persistently evil, until death faces one of them who says 'I do repent now;' nor is it for those who die defiant. It is such as these for whom We have prepared a painful punishment. O ye who believe! it is not lawful for you to inherit from women against their will; nor should you detain them wrongfully that you may partake of what you have given them, except that they be guilty of a clearly outrageous flagrancy; do consort with them in kindness; and if you dislike them it may be that you dislike something wherein Allah has put much good. In the light of 'The Holy Quran' ignorance has various different meanings. * The meaning of repenting soon after having committed evil. Allah Almighty has stated in the following verse number 19 as to when the door of repentance is closed and for whom. * Observations on the opinions of various commentators, regarding the constitutes of true repentance and Ahadith [Traditions of the Holy Prophet] mentioned in their commentaries. * The relation of both these verses with the preceding verses about the making of wills. Women who are guilty of فَاحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ ['clearly outrageous flagrancy'] can be disinherited. 15 February 1996. © The Tahir Archive, 2013.
