Tarjumatul Quran - Surah al-Safat [The Rows]: 38 - 88

Description
Verse Number 38 tells of the criterion for the truth of the Messengers that they always speak the truth and confirm the other Prophets. لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ ['have familiar provisions'] alludes to all the previous Quranic verses that mention the provisions to be granted in Paradise. These pious people would be cheerily welcomed into Paradise like honoured guests. Bowls of enchanting waters would be passed around but that drink would not intoxicate. عِندَهُمْ ['With them will be'] in verse Number 49 is not meant to be masculine but means the spirits. There would be no sexual orientation or differentiation in the world hereafter. These pairs have been compared to covered eggs. Which means that they would be protected and Untouched. يْضٌۭ [‘eggs’] as 'baidatun' an egg of an ostrich or of any bird. When said in praise, huwa baidatul balad means: He is like an ostrich egg in which is the young bird, because the male ostrich in that case protects it; or he is unequalled in nobility, like the egg that is left alone; or he is a lord, or chief; or he is the unequalled of the بلد (country or the like) to whom others resort, and whose words they accept or he is celebrated, or well-known, person. Thus بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ [‘protected eggs with their glossy shine well cared for’] would mean the pride of paradise well guarded and well protected. Verse 60: مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ ['earlier death'] means the death of the body. After dying they would encounter the mouth of the chastisement again and again. In verse Number 63 the شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ['tree of Zaqqum'] means the Tree of Evil all of the fruits of which are contrary to the Shariah. Every branch of which is like the head of Satan. Satan repeatedly lures them on to follows in the footsteps of their fathers and grandfathers who were astray. So it is dangerous for the public to follow in the footsteps of their fathers and grandfathers without thinking or understanding.* From verse Number 72 the prayer and calling our of the Prophet Noah is mentioned. These verses clearly indicate that the family and children of a Prophet are his followers and not just his physical offspring. Thus the physical son of Noah fell victim to the deluge. Similarly it is mentioned in verse Number 84 that in the beginning the Prophet Abraham was an adherent of the Shariah of the Prophet Noah. * Dost thou not see how Allah sets forth the comparison of a good word to a good tree whose root is firm and whose every branch reaches high into heaven. It brings forth its fruit at all times by the command of its Lord. Allah sets forth similitudes for people to reflect thereon. The case of an evil word is like an evil tree, which is uprooted from above the Earth and is unendurable. ('The Holy Quran'. Ibrahim [Abraham]: 25 - 27). 25 February 1998. © The Tahir Archive / MTA International, 2016.
