Friday Sermon 12 June 1998
With reference to the various statements in the news regarding the recent atomic blasts carried out by Pakistan following those of India various groups of scientists in Pakistan have tried to wear the crown for it upon their heads due to which the world laughed at them and continues to do so. But the history of the beginnings of atomic power has been totally forgotten. Before presenting certain facts about the history of atomic power in Pakistan I want to say that whether it be an issue in the interests of Pakistan or any other Muslim country of the world the Ahmadiyya Community has always been at the forefront. The history of the formation of Pakistan is before you. These Mullahs who are currently running Pakistan were even against the establishment of this country. Whether it be the history of Pakistan or any issue in the interests of Muslims the Ahmadiyya Community has always played a vital part in it. The Kashmir Movement and the great services of Hazrat Musleh Maud is an example. The services of Chaudhry Zafarullah Khan in the formation of Pakistan and similarly the timely Warning of Hazrat Musleh Maud in the Palestine issue and then the services of Hazrat Chaudhry Zafarullah Khan are such that that the leaders of the kingdoms of that time and the newspapers paid tribute to them but all these things have been forgotten today. With reference to the history of Atomic Energy in Pakistan if any politician should wear the crown upon their head for it then it should be the head of Ayub Khan. He paid attention to atomic energy following the war of '65 and gave the task to Dr. Abus Salam among the scientists and he played a fundamental and pivotal role in this regard and teams of scientists began working in this field. No decent historian can disregard his services in this field. Moreover certain Ahmadi scientists have also a highly important role in the augmentation of Uranium who should be named. In this age that is the age which begins with His Holiness the Promised Messiah (peace be on him) there is not a single issue that concerns the betterment of Muslims that did not begin with the Promised Messiah or his servants. The beginnings of the Muslim League, the history of Pakistan, protecting the rights of the Kashmirs, Ahmadis have fought more than anyone in protecting their rights following the foundation of Pakistan. This is acknowledged by certain intellectuals and the newspapers. This nation has an extremely weak memory so begin publicising these things in the media as much as possible. I advise the members of the Jamat not to be disheartened or show weakness. Stand fast to your righteousness. The histories of nations do change. Great big perils hang above the head of Pakistan currently. I advise India and Pakistan to put their heads together despite their differences and adopt a Policy for the protection of mutual good so to render unsuccessful the Policy of the western nations.
