Friday Sermon
Khutba Juma

Description
Allah bears witness that there is no God but He - as do the angels and those possessed of knowledge - Always standing guard over justice; there is no God but He the Mighty the Wise. ('The Holy Quran'. Āl Imran [Family of Imran]: 19). The subject of today's sermon and the inaugural address to the Jalsa are the same that is the Oneness of the Omnipotent [God]. We can never establish Tawhid [God's oneness/unity] in the world until we establish it in our persons. The establishment of Tawhid has a deep relationship to the guarding of justice. قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ ['Always standing guard over justice'] here reveals that the testimony of Allah is most important and most acceptable. All other testimonies become acceptable only in subordination to it. The real testimony is God's and no testimony can possibly be greater. الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ['The Mighty the Wise'] fully conveys the grandeur of His testimony and its dignity in that if one were to take a look at the universe in its entirety one would see in it the hand of one who is Mighty and Wise. Mighty is one who achieves a dominant respect through the power of knowledge and is revered. Wisdom would add grandeur to that attestation. We can present the truth of the testimony of Tawhid through the testimony of our character and the testimony of knowledge and wisdom as to how familiar and knowledgeable and wise we are about Him and to what extent we are becoming Godly people. If we keep offering prayers in a state of negligence we will never become monotheists nor make monotheists of others. If we tell lies all day, talk coarsely all day, deal with a different measure of justice when it comes to ourselves and a different one for others then in this situation the testifying of Tawhid can hold no reality and despite the truth of this testimony we will be written off as false before Allah. There are subtle allusions in this to the attribute of Lordship because this subject is endless and a continuously expanding subject. Only if we ponder over these signs can we say that none else is worthy of worship except Allah. Create an internal justice within yourselves. Your [sense of] self can never reach the knowledge of truth as long as you are not strong enough to admit your own falsehood. The Holy Prophet ﷺ never even once testified to something about the Oneness of Allah of which he had no knowledge. Every Namaz [formal prayer] makes it essential for us to increase our knowledge. The universe of which Allah is the Lord leaves no distinction behind between religion and non-religion. People of logic who ponder upon the world always turn to God. Channel this subject into your hearts and your souls because we are to call the whole world to Tawhid. Remember that you cannot conquer any kingdom, any world until you have conquered your own selves.
