Friday Sermon 2 January 1998

Description

His is the kingdom of the heavens and the Earth; and to Allah are all affairs returned.

He causes the night to pass into the day and causes the day to pass into the night; and He knows full well all that in the bosoms.

Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that to which He has made you heirs.  And those of you who believe and spend will have a grand reward.

('The Holy Quran'.  al-Hadid [Iron]: 6 - 8).

Today with the grace of Almighty God the new year of Waqf e Jadid would begin.  Incidentally before turning to the actual theme of the sermon whilst I was coming to the Jumma, MTA was broadcasting the chants of Salley Ala [salutations upon the Prophet] upon which my heart was filled with hymns.  The opponents in Pakistan tried their utmost to stop the Ahmadiyya Community from invoking salutations of Salley Ala in Rabwah and small young children were arrested because of it but today the entire world reverberates with Salley Ala.  This is the special favour of Allah that we should always remember.  Allah discarded all the efforts of these opponents and they were unable to stop the bounties descending from heaven.

The messages and letters about the demise of Hazrat Sahibzada Mirza Mansoor Ahmad is a huge pile and the whole Jamat prays for him.  I thank them all and may Allah the Almighty reward the whole Jamat in the best manner.  Likewise the congratulatory messages for Ramadan and the new year are also arriving in great numbers and it is impossible for the center to reply to them all.  For all of these too I harbour sentiments of gratitude in my heart.  

Allah alone  controls the heavens and the Earth and all important matters are returned to Him.  When these affairs return to God whether it be a problem in life or an illness or any other worry or trouble it should never be a cause for any kind of complaint before God.  Trust in God and never become agitated.  In these sacred verses Allah the Almighty states that there is a huge reward destined for those who believe and spend in the cause of God.  Some of the Ahadith of the Prophet also mention the prominence of those who spend in the cause of God.  It is mentuioned in a Hadith that:

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said 'Every day 2 angels come down from Heaven and one of them says 'O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your cause so that others follow in his footsteps,' and the other says 'O Allah! Destroy every miser.'

(Bukhari, Muhammad ibn Ismail.  'Sahih Bukhari').

The angles pray for those who spend in the cause of Allah and also for those who follow in their footsteps.  So include your wife, your children and your company in such pious acts.  

Allah be praised that the forty-second year of Waqf e Jadid ended on 31 January 1997 bearing many bounties of Almighty God and now we are entering the forty-third year of Waqf e Jadid.  With the bounty of Allah the organisation of training over 10000000 new Ahmadis who have entered the Jamat is not fully catering for them yet.  Another Secretary for Waqf e Jadid should be appointed in every Jamat for the newcomers who should work on them exclusively even if they pay a single Anna [penny] it should be accepted but Waqf e Jadid should see a significant increase in new recruits.  So appoint a full Secretary of Waqf e Jadid for the Newly Initiated. 

With reference to the Reports received with the grace of Allah the Almighty upto the end of 1997 Waqf e Jadid has received £1082398.  When Allah the Almighty appointed me to the office of the Caliphate in 1982 the total offerings of the whole world added up to Rs.5045000 and now with the blessing of God the Waqf e Jadid contributions exceeds £1082000.  When Waqf e Jadid was internationalised in 1985 the total receipt of foreign Waqf e Jadid was Rs.1146000 and today the receipt of the foreign Waqf e Jadid amounts to Rs.508300000.

In terms of totals received America maintained its first position again this year in Waqf e Jadid.  Pakistan is Number 2, Germany holds fasts to the third Position.  Britain at Number four, Canada at fifth, India at sixth.  Thereafter Switzerland, Indonesia, Norway, and Mauritius follow in Number.  In terms of financial offerings per capita America is at the top.  I commend the efforts and in-depth planning of the Amir of America.  The number of contributors in 1996 was 1067493 and 2022628 in 1997.  This is an increase of 32%.  I again advise that there should be an increase in members of Waqf e Jadid.  The names of the Jamats contributing in Pakistan are Karachi at Number one and Rabwah at Number 2.  May Allah the Almighty grant the ability to progress in every field of pious actions.
