Quranic Discourse. Al Imran [Family of Imran]: 39-42.

Description

There and then Zachariah prayed to His Lord saying 'My Lord grant me from Thyself pure offspring; surely Thou art the Hearer of prayer.'

And the angels called to him as he stood praying in the chamber of the sanctuary:  'And Allah gives thee glad tidings of Yahya testifying to the truth of a Word from Allah -  prophet noble and chaste and from among the righteous.'

He said 'My Lord how shall I have a son when I am so very old and my wife is barren?' He answered 'Such is Allah: He does what He pleases.'

He said 'My Lord appoint a token for me.'  He replied 'Thy token shall be that thou shalt not speak to men for 3 days except by gestures.  And remember thy Lord often and glorify Him in the evening and in the early dawn.'
