Description
And let there be among you a group of people whose business it is to invite to the common good and to enjoin equity and to prohibit what is wrongful. For they shall be the prosperous. ('The Holy Quran'. Āl Imran [Family of Imran]: 105). This verse draws attention to exhortation of the good word and eradication of evil. Every exhortation to good and to truth holds power and whoever adopts what is true and good will certainly be powerful whether appointed by God or not. There is a difference between calling towards the good (of others) and exhorting to good. Calling towards good is a general invitation related to inviting towards Allah. In another place 'The Holy Quran' says that inviting towards Allah is the most beautiful word. Good in fact is a calling towards God and calling to God is always an invitation to good works but there is a difference between invitation and exhortation. People have the choice to accept or to reject an invitation but when you call towards the common good you will become an authority they will have to accept. يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ['invite to the common good'] commands common good which the Community must adopt. This Quranic verse mentions 3 aspects of great importance and they are calling towards what is commonly considered good, to enjoin equity and to prohibit what is harmful and if the Ahmadiyya Community holds fast to these 3 things then their calling towards Allah will posses a powerful authority and the whole of mankind will have no choice but to consider them to be their true well-wishers. Good acts are also related to ةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ ['invite to the common good and to enjoin equity and to prohibit what is wrongful.'] If you have a bad character you have no power to call towards acts of piety. You should try to carry out pious acts in all good intention. Take heed of the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and try to act accordingly. If you will act upon these admonitions then all those promises about [spiritual] elevations will be fulfilled in our favour. May Allah the Almighty enable us to do so.
